WHS Key Club Raised Supplies for Local Food Pantries
From October 17th to October 31st, Westfield High School’s Key Club ran a school-wide food drive to benefit local food pantries as the holiday season draws near. The Key Club, a local chapter of an international service club, offered the incentive of breakfast in class for the second period class that brought in the most canned goods. True to their word, a huge breakfast of bacon, fruits, cereal, pastries, and more was delivered to Mrs. Hassler-Troutman’s second period Spanish class, which collected an impressive 412 cans. Overall, the club collected a whopping 1,519 canned goods that will be used to help local food pantries this Thanksgiving. The club officers were immensely gratified with the results, and the amount of students who were willing to donate. Mrs. Breanna Bever, the club’s adviser, said that the event was wonderful “thanks to my wonderful Key Club students!” The club’s next project will be to participate in Adopt-A-Family in the coming weeks.
