District Leadership Convention 2023
From February 24th to 26th, the 71st annual Indiana District Leadership Convention (DLC) took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the Indianapolis Airport. From there, Key Clubbers across from Indiana met at the hotel where they formed acquaintences among each other. Additionally, the theme of the 71st DLC event was Cinema/Theatre in which participants dressed up as movie or tv-show inspired outfits.
Our Keynote speaker, Drake Abramson, gave a powerful speech on the importance of reaching out to help others and expressing one's personal values. Caucusing session also occured in which Executive candidates gave their speeches in the main ballroom. However, Lieutenant Governor candidates gave their speeches in seperate rooms. Afterward, elections were held for the selection of Lieutenant Governors.
The majority of the activites in DLC occured at Saturday. On Saturday, we started the day with an amazing breakfast. Afterward, Key Clubbers participated in various service projects such as creating dog and cat toys for animal shelters, making cards to the new Philippines-Luzon District, and more. After the service projects, we went to break out sessions in which everyone went to listen to various presentations. When the presentatiosn were finished, everyone had dinner. Also, DLC awards were passed out. After the delicious meal, House of Delegates were held and elections were done.
On Sunday morning, the Governor's Brunch began. After brunch was served, Governor Louis gave his farewell speech and passed out awards. Results from the House of Delegates were revealed: Paige Hein as the District Governor, Kendall Lemon as the District Secretary-Treasurer, and Ella Freimuth as the District Bulletin Editor. The 2022-2023 District Board was retired and the 2023-2024 was installed. Finally, Governor Paige Hein concluded the session of DLC 2023.
